To achieve net-zero status the house features many passive and active design strategies to minimize energy losses, while maximizing energy efficiency. The home includes: passive solar, solar hot air (with thermal storage), building orientation, insulation, energy efficient appliances, window upgrades, natural ventilation, energy efficient lighting with smart controls, humidity control, and efficient heat pump heating and cooling.
